Turning Whitelisting Off
You can turn whitelist filtering off. It's pretty simple -- just click on the Off radio button. But before you do, think matters all the way through.
When/why would you want to do this?
-
when you do not anticipate using email much for business (e.g., pure infopreneurs), using your personal ISP-based or free email address instead.
-
when you're first starting out, your spam is near-zero, and you have other priorities (keep in mind that uploading your personal and business contacts may only take minutes if you already have a well-developed Address Book in software like Outlook -- all you have to do is export that list and upload it into the SVBI! Whitelist).
-
when you practice "safe list" from Day 1 -- manage your "email affairs" well, protecting your email accounts, and you can keep spam to near-zero...
-
never display your business email address online
-
not on your site
-
not in forums
-
not in comments to blogs
-
etc.
-
-
do not sign up for a variety of "spam magnet" offers such as freebies
-
subscribe to RSS feeds instead of giving your email address to newsletters
-
manage wormhole addresses responsibly
-
Here are a few important points with regard to turning off whitelist filtering...
-
email account management remains the same -- all email sent to any address at your domain name that's not an email account is always refused.
-
The option to redirect email to an outside address is severely curtailed if you turn off whitelisting. Click here for more information if redirecting is important to you and you want to turn off whitelisting.
-
SVBI! continues to update your whitelist if you turned it off, even if you're not using it to filter inbound email. So it's always current and ready for you, awaiting the day that you decide to turn it on to eliminate spam.
When you're ready, add your own list of personal and business contacts, as outlined above, and then turn on whitelist filtering for a spam-free environment.
