Reusable Block Library

The Reusable Block Library holds every Reusable Block that you create while building your pages.

This can include...

Every block listed here is available in the selector tool when you drag a Reusable Block from the block palette to a page in BlockBuilder.

Click on any Reusable Block name in the library to preview the content of the block, to rename the block, or to delete it.

Preview

Directions for Use
  • Click on the block's name in the list.
  • Click on preview.

If you're unsure what's contained in a Reusable Block, or want to see what it looks like, click on the block's name and then on preview.

You'll see the content of this block placed on a version of your site's design. It will not appear in the location where you might expect it.

This is because the Reusable Block can be placed anywhere on the page, so there's no "right" location.

Rename

Directions for Use
  • Click on the block's name in the list.
  • Click on rename.
  • In the overlay tool, remove the current name and enter a new name.
  • Click on Rename This Block.

If the name you gave a Reusable Block doesn't describe its purpose (that is, you can't tell what it's for just by looking at the name), you can rename it.

Click on the block's name and then on rename.

An overlay window will open. You'll see the current name in a text box. Delete it and enter a new name for this Reusable Block.

Click on Rename This Block to save the new name.

Delete

Directions for Use
  • Click on the block's name in the list.
  • Click on delete.
  • In the overlay tool, copy the list of pages that will be affected by deleting this block. Paste it into a text document.
  • Click on Delete This Block.
  • If necessary, edit the pages affected by the deletion.

If you no longer want a Reusable Block, you can delete it from the library.

This will also delete it from the selector and from every page of your site where you placed this Reusable Block.

To delete the block, click on its name and then on delete.

An overlay window will open. You'll see a list of pages that will be affected by this deletion. Highlight and copy this list, and paste it into a text document.

Click on Delete This Block to remove the block from the library, the selector, and all affected pages.

As a final step, use the list you pasted into the text document to visit every affected page to determine if it still reads well and makes sense without the common content from the deleted Reusable Block.

Bulk Delete

You can also bulk delete Reusable Blocks. To do that, click on a block that you want to delete. The block will now have a gray background.

Ctrl-click/Command-click on another block to highlight it. Or use Shift-click to highlight all the blocks from the first click to the cursor's location.

Once two or more blocks are selected, the column headers bar (Select All, Not Filed, etc.) will have a gray background. To the far right, a Delete button displays.

Click on the Delete button to delete all the highlighted Reusable Blocks. An overlay will appear, listing the descriptive name of all the blocks that will be deleted.

Click on Delete These Links to make the final deletion.
