Turning Whitelisting Off
You can turn whitelist filtering off. It's pretty simple really -- just click on the "Off" radio button! But before you do, think matters all the way through.
When/why would you want to do this?...
- when you do not anticipate using e-mail much for business (ex., pure infopreneurs), using your personal ISP-based or free e-mail address instead.
- when you're first starting out, your spam is near-zero, and you have other priorities (keep in mind that uploading your personal and business contacts may only take minutes if you already have a well-developed Address Book in software like Outlook -- all you have to do is export that list and upload it into the SVBI! Whitelist).
-
when you practice "SAFE LIST" from Day 1 -- manage your "e-mail affairs" well, protecting your e-mail accounts, and you can keep spam to near-zero...
-
never display your SBI! business e-mail address online
- not on your site
- not in forums
- not in comments to blogs
- etc.
- do not sign up for a variety of "spam magnet" offers such as freebies, FFAs, etc.
- subscribe to RSS feeds instead of giving your e-mail address to e-zines
- manage Wormhole addresses responsibly
- basically -- guard your e-mail accounts!
-
Practicing "SAFE LIST" boils down to prudent "e-mail address management." If you're careful, you may never need spam protection. If so, great! You can turn off whitelist filtering and keep it off... until (if) you need it.
Here are a few important points with regards to turning off whitelist filtering...
- E-mail account management remains the same -- all e-mail sent to any address at your domain that is NOT an e-mail account is always refused.
- The option to redirect e-mail to an outside address is severely curtailed if you turn off whitelisting. Click here for more information if redirecting is important to you AND you want to turn off whitelisting.
- SVBI! continuously and automatically updates your whitelist even if you turned it off and are not using it to filter inbound e-mail. So it's always current and ready for you, awaiting the day that you decide to turn it on to eliminate spam. When you're ready, simply add your own list of personal and business contacts, as outlined above, and then turn on whitelist filtering for a spam-free environment!
