Quick Upload It! (QUI!)

Quick Upload It! (QUI!) allows you to quickly upload files to your site. QUI! accepts the following for upload...

You can upload one file type at a time, or "mix and match," uploading image files, support files, media files, and even SBI! Includes and HTML page files at the same time.

Important Note

There's a 512 MB storage limit on all files uploaded with QUI!, except HTML page files, for which there is no storage limit, and SBI! Includes.

Uploading Your Files

Directions for Use
  • Go to the folder where your site's files are located. Highlight the files you want to upload. Drag them to the box.

Or click on the Browse button (Choose File if using Safari). Navigate to the files you want to (re-)upload. Click on Open (Choose in Safari) to add them to the list to be uploaded.
  • For HTML files, click on the checkbox beside the file name to Update RSS/Blog It! (only for existing pages, and only if you want the feed updated).
  • Click on the X to the right of the file size to remove any file from the list to be uploaded.
  • Click on the Upload It/Them! button.
  • Review the list of files uploaded to confirm that they all were uploaded successfully.

You can upload up to 99 files at one time with Quick Upload It!.

However, the more you upload at one time, the longer the process will complete. And the longer it takes, the greater the risk of something going wrong (including hitting your 512 MB storage limit).

Stick to 50 or fewer simultaneous uploads and you should be okay.

QUI! will track how many you can still drag over or select for uploading, and how many you've already added to be uploaded.

To create a group of files, click on the first file, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, then click on the last file.

Or click on one file, then hold down the Ctrl / Command key and select each additional file individually.

You can also combine both methods, if you use the Shift method first.

Once you've selected your files, click and hold the mouse button on one of the highlighted files.

Drag the group over to the rectangle in the QUI! tool page that says "Drag up to 99 files from your computer and drop them here to upload them" (see the screenshot, below).

99 files remaining

You can add files to be uploaded by accessing the folder that contains your site's files, then selecting the files you want to upload. You can drag them over one at a time, or as a group.

Release your mouse button to drop all the files in the rectangle. The border will change to purple, and the message will now say "Drag up to "##" files from your computer and drop them here to upload them."

"##" is the balance (99 minus the total number you dropped there) that you can still drag over. (See the screenshot below, showing that 95 files can still be dragged over.)

95 files remaining

QUI! also tells you how many files you have dropped there (or selected by clicking on the button, discussed next), and how much storage space you still have remaining.

You can also upload files by clicking on the Browse button (Choose File in Safari). That opens a dialog window where you can select the files you want to upload (no dragging involved).

As with dragging, you can create a group of files. Click on the first file, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, then click on the last file.

Or click on one file, then hold down the Ctrl / Command key and select each additional file individually. You can also combine both methods, if you use the Shift method first.

Each file you select appears at the bottom of QUI!. This allows you to double-check that you're not uploading any files that you don't want to upload, or that can't be uploaded (a wrong file type). Click on the X to the right of the file size for any file that you don't want to upload.

If you're near your storage limit of 512 MB, you may not be able to upload every file. Review the file size for your files. Click on the X for any file you don't want to upload.

When you've reached your limit of 99 files, or dragged over/selected as many as you want to upload, click on the Upload It/Them! button.

Tip

HTML Page Files

QUI! allows you to upload new HTML files quickly. It also lets you re-upload existing files.

New Pages

Uploading page files with Upload Your Own HTML (UYOH) gives you access to Analyze It! and Preview It!.

UYOH also does basic error-checking for things like a title tag, meta description tag, and alt text.

You can upload files that the page references (images, media and support files) along with the page file.

And each uploaded page will appear in Search Engine HQ's various reports.

Page files that you upload via QUI! bypass Analyze It! and Preview It!. QUI! does not do error-checking. It does not report on any referenced files that you may need to upload.

Therefore, we recommend that you use QUI! to re-upload existing pages, and to upload only those pages that don't need SEO analysis.

This includes the following...

All page files uploaded with QUI! reside at the root of your site, exactly where block-built and UYOH-uploaded page files reside. They will appear in Page Manager, with (Uploaded) or (UL) beside them.

Note, however, that because QUI! does not perform error-checking, you may not be able to re-upload a page in UYOH if the page is missing the title tag, has an empty title tag, or is missing the closing head tag.

Building With Blocks?

If you build most of your pages with BlockBuilder, and need to build a page that requires uploading, download the template package for the design you created in Site Designer.

Ensure that you're logged in to the correct account (if you have more than one), and then click on this link to download the entire package of design images, CSS file, and HTML template...

Open the HTML file in an HTML editor, or in Notepad/TextEdit (if you're using TextEdit on a Mac, set it to Plain Text mode before pasting in the code).

Use Upload Your Own HTML to upload these pages. As an occasional builder of code-based pages, you'll want the error-checking and other checks that UYOH provides.

The QUI! option to Update RSS/Blog It!? can only be used for re-uploads of existing HTML page files.

Existing Pages

If you have pages that need minor edits, use QUI! to re-upload them.

Even pages with major edits, like the addition of a new image or a link to a PDF, can be re-uploaded with QUI!, as long as you remember to upload the new image, PDF file, or other file (QUI! will not remind you to upload them).

If you prefer the comfort of having SBI! tell you what referenced files to also upload, use Upload Your Own HTML to re-upload existing page files.

SBI! Includes

If you don't use the Upload Your Own HTML module to upload your site's pages, you can skip this section.

If you upload your pages, you most likely use several SBI! Includes so that you can easily replace content across parts of or your entire site.

QUI! lets you upload, or re-upload, those Includes.

Once uploaded, each Include file will be included in the SBI! Includes section of Special File Manager.

After (re-)uploading your Include files, you'll see a button that will take you directly to Special File Manager. You can also return to QUI!, or go to Site Central.

Image Files

QUI! allows you to upload images up to 1.5 MB in size directly to the image-files folder of your site. This can be especially useful if you have gallery pages with many images on them.

As long as you're certain that the images will display properly on the page (for example, you viewed the page in Quick Preview It!), use QUI! to upload the images quickly.

Then use UYOH to upload the page file itself. This will give you a quick indication that all of the images were uploaded properly. Any that you may have missed will be highlighted in red text.

You can also re-upload existing images. If you added a watermark, or a special sale banner to an image, save it with the same file name and use QUI! to have it displaying on your site without having to rebuild any pages.

The image types you can upload are GIF (.gif extension), JPG (.jpg), PNG (.png) and WebP (.webp).

You cannot upload your favicon using QUI!. You must use Fav It! for that upload.

Important Note

There's no limit when you upload images using the Image Library, or when uploading them along with your page files in UYOH.

If you reach your QUI!/SFM storage limit (512 MB), you can revert to using UYOH to upload all of your site's images.

If you still need room for support and media files, consider deleting some of the images you uploaded with QUI!.

Then re-upload them by editing the relevant pages and uploading them with UYOH. If you use the Image Library, upload them there.

Building With Blocks?

If you use BlockBuilder (and you're comfortable with HTML), you can still use QUI! to upload images. Keep in mind though that the images will not appear in your Image Library, so you will not be able to use them with the Image Block in BlockBuilder. You'll have to add HTML tags to Raw HTML Blocks to display the images on your pages.

See the General Tips section in the Special File Manager help for the HTML tag to use to add images to Raw HTML Blocks.

After (re-)uploading your image files to QUI!, which go into the image-files folder on your site, you'll see a button that will take you directly to Special File Manager. You can also return to QUI!, or go to Site Central.

Support Files

QUI! lets you upload, and re-upload, support files for your site.

This includes...

Any file type not listed here cannot be uploaded with QUI! or with UYOH.

Building With Blocks?

If you use BlockBuilder, you can also use QUI! to upload support files. You'll then have two options to present the files on your pages.

See the General Tips section in the Special File Manager help for those options.

After (re-)uploading your support files, which go into the support-files folder on your site, you'll see a button that will take you directly to Special File Manager. You can also return to QUI!, or go to Site Central.

Media Files

QUI! lets you upload, and re-upload, all the media files you might want to have on your site.

This includes...

Any file type not listed here cannot be uploaded with QUI! or with UYOH.

Building With Blocks?

If you use BlockBuilder, you can also use QUI! to upload media files. You'll then have two options to present the files on your pages.
