The 5 Pillar Orientation Guide (available in the Getting Started? section in the left column of the 5 Pillar Club home page) is an excellent resources for new affiliates.
SiteSell Text Link Block
- Which Product?: Choose from the product drop-down menu.
- Text: Enter the text that you want to appear as a link (i.e., blue-underlined text) here.
- Alignment: Select how you want the text link aligned on the page.
- Mouseover Text: Enter the text you want the visitor to see in the status bar when they hover the mouse over this link.
- Open New Window?: Choose whether you want the link to open in a new browser window.
The only difference is that this block is pre-configured to make links to any of SiteSell's products even quicker and easier to set up.
Promote the product (or products) that best fits your visitors' needs. The link will automatically be set to hyperlink your visitor to its sales page.
Tips
-
A keyword in a text link might help you score Search Engine points. So include your keyword in a link once, not more than twice.
Also, use your general keywords and common synonyms, too.
- A mouseover message is great for hiding the destination link from the status bar. When the visitor hovers the mouse over this link, a message will appear in the status bar (lower left edge of the browser window).
- Open a new window, since this link is sending that person out of your site to a SiteSell site. That way, after your visitor closes the new window, your site will still be there underneath, waiting to greet your visitor all over again!
SiteSell Graphic Block
- Which Product?: Choose from the product drop-down menu.
- Choose Graphic: Click on the drop-down menu and select an image from the SiteSell.com Graphic Library. Click on any of the links to view the graphics before making your choice.
- Alignment: Select how you want the graphic aligned on the page.
- Alt: Enter a few words that describe the image being inserted.
- Mouseover Text: Enter the text you want the visitor to see in the status bar when they hover the mouse over this graphic.
- Open New Window?: Choose whether or not you want the link to open in a new browser window.
Tips
-
To increase the visibility of your site to the Search Engines, and to be found in Google image searches, enter a few words in the "Alt" entry box to describe the image being inserted. It's a good idea to include a keyword or two in this description if applicable.
Don't overdo it, though. Too many keywords (or the repetition of keywords) may earn your site a ranking penalty.
-
For Alignment purposes, choose "None" if you want this graphic to appear in the middle of your sentence. Watch out, though, for funny formatting effects.
Choose "Left," or "Right" if you're starting a new line with this graphic (i.e., the block before this one is a Line Break or a Headline) and you want the text in the following blocks to wrap around it.
"Center" forces the text to start below the graphic.
"Left," "Right," or "Center" works only if you have inserted a Headline or Line Break Block before this block.
- A mouseover message is great for hiding the destination link from the status bar. When the visitor hovers the mouse over this graphic, a message will appear in the status bar (lower left edge of the browser window).
- Open a new window, since this graphic link is sending that person out of your site. That way, after your visitor closes the SiteSell page, your site will still be there underneath, waiting to greet your visitor all over again!
When using graphics as links, keep in mind that banners generally ruin the moment.
Except as advertising at the top of a page (where it is clearly and acceptably tucked away out of sight!), stick at most to small buttons to enhance the clickability of one or two of your text links.
Even here, be conservative. If your reader senses that s/he is supposed to click, your click-through rate (CTR) will fall!
The golden rule? Well-placed in-context text links rule the day!
