6 Weeks and Not Yet?
Improve, Analyze and Find Links
You built this page at least 6 weeks ago, and according to the Submit-Spider-List Report, it has not yet been listed by one of the Search Engines. Until the page is indexed, it can't be found by this Search Engine's users for either the page's Specific Keyword or any long tail keywords.
There are a few things you can do to get this page indexed by the engines...
If Google has indexed this page, but Ask and/or Bing hasn't, you may want to leave it as it is. Since Google typically provides at least 50% of Search Engine traffic, you'll be spending your time on a low-return task. And you might change the page enough that Google lowers its rank in the results.
- Improve the content of the page. This could mean adding more content (perhaps the page is too short), updating what you already have (especially if it contains time-sensitive information, such as course dates), or reworking it so that it provides more value to your visitors.
- Add a few (or a few more) content-related images to the page, and optimize them by adding the page's Specific Keyword in the alt text (the ALT text entry box in SiteBuilder).
- Once you've finished with the content and images, run the page through Analyze It! again to ensure that all the on-page criteria are good.
- Once the on-page criteria are good, add a few more links from other pages on your site (ones that are already indexed) to indicate to the engines that this page is of some importance. For instance, if this is a new TIER 2 page, link to it from related TIER 2 pages.
-
With internal links added, it's time to look for one or more external links to your page. Start with Search It!'s Similar/Related search. If your site is new, your best bet is the Google Related Tool...
If your site has been around for a while, use the Back Links search to find sites that already link to you. You may be able to get a link to this new page if you ask for it (you may have to provide a reciprocal link back to the site giving you the link).
Also check the Inbound Link Opportunities category for niche directories where you can submit this page.
TIER 2 Tip
If this is a TIER 2 page, you may also want to increase the priority of the page, to indicate to the engines that this page is more important relative to all the other TIER 2 pages of your site. Note, however, that you cannot lower the priority later, so this relative importance will remain for the life of the page, unless you change it to a TIER 3. So only do this after you've performed at least one of the above five actions and checked the next report (in three weeks) to see if your changes helped.
See the Priority Build It! help for more information.
TIER 3 Tip
If this is a TIER 3 page, you have already used Priority Build It! at least twice to build this page. (Only TIER 3 pages with a priority of at least 0.7 will ever give the Not Yet link in the Submit-Spider-List report.) This means that this page is very important to you. Perform one or more of the five actions discussed above. When you run your next report (in three weeks), if the page still shows Not Yet, consider using Priority Build It! a third time to increase its importance to 0.8 (the maximum priority you can give to a TIER 3 page).
