Domain Transfers
Never transfer a domain name without doing DAYs 1-5 of the SBI! Action Guide. Even if you are "sure" of your existing domain name, you may discover a better one. Remember...
You do not know what you do not know.
When you brainstorm, you may very well find a more profitable domain. So finish DAYs 1-5, and know.
If you discover that your domain name is indeed the perfect one for your SBI! site and want to transfer it to SBI!, please read the following carefullly...
Potential Transfer Issues
Transfers often entail tons of practical problems, all of them beyond our control, which cause a great deal of frustration and delays for you. For example...
1) The e-mail address of your admin contact may be defunct, so you won't receive the requests for confirmation. You need to update the e-mail address of the Administrative Contact with your current registrar before you can even initiate the transfer. While a reputable registrar will assist you in making the change, some may be less than helpful. We are simply the receiving registrar, so we have no say or control in these matters.
2) Even if the admin contact is active, people often miss the e-mail from us that asks the user to confirm the transfer (we are obliged to request this). If you have "domain privacy" enabled for your domain, their e-mail forwarding service often mistakenly considers the "Transfer Away Confirmation" as spam and something to be deleted. Delays.
3) Your registration status may be "on hold"... a quagmire.
4) The Internet has an entire "security system" in place to make sure that transfers cannot be done by anyone other than the owner. Unfortunately, that puts all kinds of steps into the process that make it tricky and difficult, all of which are beyond our ability to help since we merely "receive."
5) You cannot transfer your domain if it is less than 60 days old. So if you have registered a new domain within the last 60 days, it's impossible to transfer it.
(These are the rules that govern all registrars. We have no control over these matters.)
One other note about transfers...
We cannot offer a discount for transfers because it costs us the same to register a transferred domain as it does to register a new one.
