E-mail Link Block
Want someone to contact you?
Warning: We highly recommend that you set up a Contact Form to do this instead of using the E-mail Link block. See the Form Build It! Library and Form Block for details on how to do this.
Why use a Contact Form?
SPAM!
There are good spiders (the SEs send them out to list your pages in their indexes) and bad spiders. The bad ones "harvest" e-mail addresses from Web pages, store them in huge databases and send spam messages to every single one of those e-mail addresses.
Don't let your address be part of it!
However, you know your business. If you wish to do so, you can set up an e-mail link by using the E-mail Link block.
When your visitors click on this link, their e-mail software will open a blank e-mail, pre-addressed to the address you specify elsewhere in this block.
- Text: Enter the text that you want to appear as a link (i.e., underlined) here.
- E-mail Address: Enter the e-mail address which will receive this e-mail.
- Alignment: Select how you want the e-mail link aligned on the page.
- Mouseover Text: Enter the text you want the visitor to see in the status bar (lower left edge of the browser window) when hovering the mouse over this link.
Tips
- Type the actual e-mail address into the text box so your contact can read it if she prints this page and looks at it later.
- To prevent typos, copy-and-paste the e-mail address when you enter it. When you preview the page, test the link to make sure it opens a new message, pre-addressed to you.
