Edit Your Home Page
Want to make a change to your home page? No problem.
SiteBuilder presents your home page as it was when you last hit the "Build It" button. Plus... if this is your first home page editing job, there are some extra options that are now available. (Be sure to read each option's help to get the best possible results.)
All you have to do is make your changes, re-build your page... and you're done! The nice thing about editing is that you're almost finished, right after you start.
When Do You Edit?
- When you notice typos.
- When you want to improve your Search Engine rankings. Or...
- Any time you want to improve your home page... update content, add graphics, enhance the text, add or delete links, add your home page to your RSS feed, add Socialize It! buttons to your home page, add, change or remove a right column, etc.
How Do You Edit?
Everything works exactly as it did when you first built the home page from scratch. Simply adjust whatever content you wish.
Tips
- Double-check that your Page Information (i.e., Page Title, Keywords, Description) is both correct and optimized through Analyze It!.
- When you need to edit chunks of text, it's best to work with a plain text editor as outlined in this TNT article.
- Remember that the Site Concept keyword is the "Specific Keyword" of the home page. That's why Analyze It! will use the term, Specific Keyword, in its home page report.
- If you don't see the Choose a Right Column option here, you haven't activated the 3 column design in the Look and Feel Selector in the All Pages section of Site Central. Once you do that, use the Add/Manage Right Columns tool (in Site Central) to build one or more right columns. Then return here and select the column content you want to use.
- If you wish to add some "spice" to your home page, check out these Common HTML Tags.
- For symbols a little out of the ordinary, try these Special HTML Characters.
- Adding an image to your home page is easy. See this TNT article for instructions.
- For additional help from other SBIers, see the SiteBuilder Libraries & Tools Forum.
That's it! You're ready to start editing.
