Content 2.0 Thank You Page
Your visitor has just submitted her contribution. The next page she'll see is your Thank You page.
This is your second opportunity to make her feel like a member of your site's community rather than just a visitor to your site.
If you're an affiliate, you can promote Site Build It! -- in context -- on this page.
Your contributor can also choose any or all three of these notification options that keep her connected to your site.
Notify me when...
- My contribution has been accepted.
- Someone comments on my contribution.
- Others contribute to this site.
If your contributors need to include their e-mail address (ex., they are submitting a directory listing), add text in your Page Text (see below). Advise them that the submission needs their e-mail address, so they need to complete the Notification Options section.
Page Information and Navigation Options
- Enter the Page Title for your Thank You page.
- Choose whether to Put your NavBar on THIS page.
This section allows you to add the title, which will appear at the top of the browser window. You can also add your NavBar, so that your visitor can visit other pages of your site.
Tip
-
The default for adding the NavBar is Yes, so it will appear on this Thank You page unless you choose not to add it. If you don't add the NavBar, your visitor will have no options for leaving the page.
If you upload your pages, this button does not affect you. You will need to add your own navigation (***NAVBAR*** tag or custom navigation) to your utility template. See Creating Your Content 2.0 Utility Template for more information.
Build Your Thank You Page
- Customize the Headline text. Choose a Size and Alignment.
- Customize the Page Text to suit your site's "voice."
The best way to make your visitor feel like she's a valued member of your community is to really thank her for her contribution. Let her know you appreciate that she took the time to contribute to your site.
Customize the default Page Text to suit the voice you've used throughout your site. For example, for a business-oriented site, "Thank You" may be more appropriate than "Thanks." A family-oriented site might be more suited to the informal "Thanks."
Tips
- Avoid using "I want to thank you for...." Simply say "Thank you for...."
- Consider inviting her to continue her visit to your site by clicking on one of your NavBar buttons (if you include the NavBar on the page).
- If you're using C2 for a directory or similar system, your contributor's submission probably needs an e-mail address for the listing. To help ensure that each person includes an e-mail address, add text in this section. Mention that his submission cannot be accepted unless he enters his e-mail address and asks to be notified when his submission has been accepted.
- Do not add AdSense ads to the Thank You page. It's strictly against Google's rules. This includes not adding it to your C2 template if you upload your pages.
-
You may want to provide some instructions on whitelisting your domain with their e-mail service or application, to ensure that they receive any notifications they ask for. You can copy the text below and paste as is into your page, or modify it to your own needs.
If you don't receive the e-mail within minutes (and if there is no typo in the e-mail address you supplied), your ISP or mail service may have mistakenly filtered it into your "Junk" or "Spam" folder. If you don't see it in your Inbox, please check Junk or Spam. If you find it, click the button that indicates it's <strong>not</strong> "Junk" or "Spam."
Enable Promotion/Promote SBI!
- If you're not already an affiliate, click on the checkbox to Enable Promotion.
- Read the Affiliate Agreement. Then check the Conditions of Rejection and click on the checkbox for I so certify. Then click on I Agree!.
- Choose whether to Include promotional SBI! paragraph.
- Add text to Other Text (optional) if you want to customize it. Or delete the default text.
- Choose whether to the Include "Powered by SBI!" image.
What better time to gently promote SBI! 2.0 than when your visitor is about to see how great her contribution looks on the Thank You page! And she'll be even more impressed when she discovers how easy it is to edit her contribution right on that page.
The simple submission process and the even simpler editing process have helped PREsell your visitor on the ease of using SBI!. Use this opportunity to mention some of the other benefits of SBI!, such as having people like her, who share your passion, find your site.
You'll see a checkbox to Enable Promotion, if you are not currently an affiliate. Click the checkbox if you want to become an affiliate and promote SBI! on your Thank You page. If you're already an affiliate, you'll see a Promote SBI! section with various options.
Tips
- The promotional SBI! paragraph is included by default (Yes button). If you do not want to use it, click on the No button. The entire box will close, leaving only the buttons.
- The Powered by SBI! image is also included by default (Yes button). If you do not want to use it, click on the No button.
-
If you customize the "Other Text" section, don't be "sales-y." Gently describe one or two of the benefits that you receive from using SBI!. If you want to add another RR URL link to the optional section, you can find the one you need at either...
In the Other Text section, paste the URL. For more information on using HTML to build links, see this TNT article.
Preview and Build
- Click on Preview to view the Thank You page. Make any changes until you're satisified.
- Click on Build It! to build the page.
- Click on Cancel if you don't want to build the page.
Once you've added your Page Information, Headline and Page Text, and decided on your SBI! promotion, preview the Thank You page. Check for typos and other errors. And read through your text to ensure that you have really expressed your thanks.
You'll see a Notification Options section at the bottom of the page. This is where your contributor can set whether she wants to know when you accept her contribution, and/or about comments made by other visitors, and/or about contributions submitted by other visitors.
When she selects one or more of the options, Your Name and Your E-mail Address entry boxes appear. She enters her information and clicks on the Set Notifications button.
SBI! will then send messages to her automatically based on which option(s) she selected. There's nothing for you to do, except customize the AutoConfirm message, which is the next step.
Once you're satisfied with the Thank You page, click Build It!. If you don't want to build the Thank You page, click on Cancel to return to the Invitation Setup tool page. C2 will use the default Thank You page when someone contributes to your site.
