Content 2.0 Notification
When a visitor submits a contribution to your site, you'll receive an e-mail notification 90 minutes after the initial submission, telling you that you have a new submission. (Notification is delayed to give your visitor time to edit her contribution.)
It's very important that you act on each notification as soon as possible, for several reasons.
- Your visitor has just taken the time to contribute something to your site. Acting quickly to get that page live lets her know that you value what she has to say.
- If she's pleased and happy with her experience on your site, she's more likely to contribute again.
- She's also more likely to tell her friends and family about her great experience on your site, increasing the likelihood that you'll receive even more visitors.
- Act too slowly and she might forget that she asked for a confirmation message. She'll think you're spamming her. At the very least, she won't be impressed with your site management.
If you're already working in the Content 2.0 Library, and accept (or reject) a new submission before the 90 minute delay expires, the notification e-mail is not sent to you.
You can also choose to receive notification when someone adds a comment to an existing submission. (Notifications about comments are sent immediately.)
Note: E-mail addresses of all visitors asking to be notified are automatically whitelisted by Spam 'n Virus Blast It!. So you will always receive any future messages from them.
To view the notification message you'll receive after a submission or comment, click on the text link just above the set-up form.
Although you can make changes to your prefs (preferences), there's no need to make them unless you want to use a different WebMail address, or you want to add CC addresses for employees who manage your submissions.
Set Submission Notification
- Choose your option to Send Notification when.
- Enter the Send To WebMail address where you want to receive the notification.
- Add up to two names and associated e-mail addresses to receive CC's.
- Click on Set Notification to set up the notification message.
- If you decide you don't want to make any changes, click on Cancel.
You can send notification e-mails to yourself and up to two other people.
If you want to be notified of new contributions waiting for approval and comments about published contributions, select "AND when comments are left about visitor's page."
Tips
- You can use one of the CC's to send the e-mail to a non-WebMail address, if you have one (ex., the main one to your WebMail address, and a CC to your ISP address).
- If you're sending to an ISP address, whitelist the sending address by copying it in the From section, then pasting it into your ISP's spam management software and/or into your desktop mail application's filtering rules.
